So it’s official now and it wasn’t a surprise to anyone because of FI’s family. I feel so bad for him because he wanted to make this big speech Sunday at Easter dinner, but his mom already blabbed the news the week before to everyone.
Rewind 2 weeks ago: We are at is mom’s house for brunch and Fiance casually mentions that we are “thinking” of getting married when we go on our family fun vacation.
So fast forward to Easter dinner. We arrive at his aunts house and we are getting ready to eat and she comes over to him and whispers something in his ear. Then we all sit down and then the toast comes out from his uncle and then its followed by this awkward silence while his aunt was going “and then…*cricket cricket*….and then….*cricket cricket*”. Everyone was looking at Fiance and I and he gets all uppity and was said “Well everyone already knows so what’s the point of saying it”. He was so mad at his family for talking about it. He wanted to announce it to everyone himself and I think officially ask me in front of his family.
I told him that it wasn’t a big deal and that his family was just super excited for us. But I think he feels he lost some of that “magic of the moment”. I’m not mad at his family at all. He has since built his bridge and gotten over the initial disappointment in his mom and aunt of spoiling the surprise so everything is all good now
