I felt the same. I’m a designer so I did our invites as well, and when my Fiance said ehhh they are just ok I got upset at first. But then I asked him why, and found examples of what he did like.

I’m sure its nothing personal, and most guys wouldn’t like the rainbow colors. He was just focusing on what he didnt like and told you, doesn’t mean he didn’t like the flowers, guys just aren’t ones to get all gushy over the small details.

Maybe find a few examples of what he does like to help you change yours, or have him sit with you while you work on it so he can be involved as well.

I think you’re hearing more to his words than were there — and I think he did give you helpful feedback: He doesn’t like the rainbow colors. Pick a color you know he DOES like, that would go with what else you’ve already got going, and swap the rainbow for “his” color. Then show him again! I’ll bet he likes it.

good idea… yeah I found a lot of pinterest, then let him browse through the top few. The first design I did he said looked like a valentines card from the store. I had a bunch of ideas and tried to merge together “modern” yet “elegant” and “rustic” and actually decided that I would get a custom stamp made that I could stamp onto really thick paper. He then said it would be really cool to have a crest, so that helped to evolve our design a little bit byt throwing ideas out there. Boys just don’t like to be overwhelmed, they want us to take care of most of it, but they still like to have a say.

I would suggest just reversing the color scheme kind of.  Nix the rainbow colors and maybe do the letters in the dahlia purple with a dark purple border.  I think that would tie it all together nicely and he’ll probably be fine with it after a change like that.  I know how easy it is to be passionate about something you worked hard on and its easy to get your feelings hurt when the person you really wanted to be excited about it just doesn’t love it, but I also think that he did give you feedback and its still a very much salvagable project.  In generaly I LOVE LOVE the design!  The flowers are gorgeous and I would have never guessed that the invitation wasn’t fron a highend stationary shop, so kudos to you!

@eocenia:  don’t sweat it… mine did not like any of my first invitations. He would also not provide any construtive feedback. He just told me he wanted it simpler.. which I think is a guy thing, we girls like things complicated and flashy, guys like simple and to the point. So what I did was make a simpler version of the invite design I liked the best, made a mock up invitation on actualy paper so that he could hold it and see it, and feel it. He liked it! So I got what I wanted and he liked it.

@eocenia:  I actually liked the way you used your initials, since they are SO unique!  I do like this version too though!
