The title really says it all. My Fiance has recently been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which from the sounds of it, is an umbrella term for either Crohn’s disease or Colitis. He has been quite sick for the last three weeks and I am having a hard time staying strong for him. I know that this is fairly common, but I hate that it is happening to him.
He is a little fellow to begin with, and in these three weeks, I’m sure he has already lost close to 10lbs. We have an appointment for a scope on Thursday of next week, so that can tell us for sure wether it is Crohn’s or Colitis, and that he can get the right treatment. In the meantime, we wait.
Thanks for taking the time to read this 🙂

I’m really sorry you both are going through this. I hope they can figure out the treatment quickly so he can get back to being well. Postive thoughts going out to both of you. 🙂

I have Ulcerative Colitis and those flare ups are super rough. Once I got onto meds I did great and I’m sure your Fiance will as well. Prepping for the scope can be difficult, so try and support him through that as much as you can.
In the meantime a bland diet will likely help him reduce his discomfort. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer as best I can.

I have Crohns and understand how rough the situation can be sometimes! Stay as strong as you can for him. Once he gets the right treatment and meds he will feel so much better, quickly!

Mom had Crohns for 20 years before she was actually diagnosed. She was then put on sulfa dioxide and prednisone which put it in remission, until they found she was allergic to the sulfa.
Yes he will lose weight, however then the prednisone being a steroid put the weight right back on. Mom looked like a chipmunk, but a cute one.
You can do this. My mom’s live in boyfriend of 11 years left her after diagnosed as he could not handle it, and that was worse on her than the diagnosis. It really put her in a bad depressed state. Its bad enough to have the illness but then to have the one you love leave you because of something you can’t control is even worse.
Ask yourself, would you be strong for him after you take your vows of “in sickness and in health”?

We originally thought we had an appointment for a colonoscopy today, however, it turned out just to be a consultation with the surgen. He seems very nice, and wants to get all of this figured out quickly! We have an appointment for the colonoscopy nexy Tuesday at 11:30. We also have an appointment for CT Scan.
Thanks for your continued support and I will keep you updated 🙂
