choualacreme:  I wouldn’t worry about what he thought about a dress that he saw off the wrack. A dress can look totally hideous on a hanger, but when you put it on and see it on an actual human form, it’s totally transformed. This has actually happened with my fiance multiple times while shopping for a dress for any kind of occassion – I’ll pull one out and show it to him, he doesn’t like it, I try it on and his reaction is “Oh yeah, that actually looks good”.

And honesly, he probably won’t even remember what the “cheesy” dress looked like on your wedding day.

He may not have even been talking about the neckline. Maybe it was something else about the dress that made it ‘cheesy’ to him. And I agree with PP’s that everything looks different on the hanger. My sister pulled a dress off the rack for me to try on and I laughed in her face and said it was ‘ridiculous’ but when I put it on I actually liked it!! The dress you bought is gorgeous, don’t worry about it

He’s not going to think it’s cheesy when he sees it on you, trust me.

suddenly all of these wedding day pics of grooms seeing the bride in her gown for the first time came to my mind..not a single one looked like “ew, i dont like your dress” 😉

Are you sure it was the neckline he thought was cheesy and not another part of the dress? Your dress is classic and lively Nd far from cheesy. I’ve never heard anyone consider illusion necklines cheesy before.

I wouldn’t worry about it. The dress you picked is gorgeous and men (usually) have no sense of fashion. My SO just says “you look good” no matter what I wear. Plus, as other bees have pointed out, gowns look a lot different on the hangar. Don’t worry, so long as you feel comfortable on your wedding day that is all that matters.

choualacreme:  Don’t get another dress. Honestly, a lot of men really don’t know what they’re talking about. I read a post recently where a bride bought a ballgown, and her fiance told her he didn’t like ballgowns and they were too poofy. So she went and bought another dress in a mermaid style. Then later on, she was watching Say Yes to the Dress and her fiance commented and said “See, I love that. That’s a nice dress”… and it was a ballgown!

I think they judge things based on what they see in the moment. Your fiance saw the dress on a hanger, not on a person. He probably pictured a ton of lace, creating like an over-the-top lace turtle neck or something. Your dress is nothing like that. I really do think he’s going to love it when he sees you in it on your wedding day.
