@tgoss: & @Lfata: Thank you both for the advice, ladies. I guess my problem was based more on getting him understand/agree that it’s worth spending money on, rather than trying to find ways to save money. We’re definitely already going to go with this girl, I just wanted him to feel more at ease with the spending. Luckily, he’s come around since yesterday and doesn’t seem to be as stressed-sounding about it anymore. 🙂
Thank you again, everyone!

I might be joining the conversation a little late, but if it does come up again, are there other places in your budget that you can compromise/cut down on? E.g., are you hiring a videographer? I am personally only interested in shooting video of the ceremony and the speeches and so am going to ask a friend to do those for me, but if you were planning on hiring one, that could be a place to budget (e.g., you don’t need a video of the last hour of everyone dancing drunk?).
Also, I saw a magazine article (maybe it was in Brides or something?) that many people regret not spending more on photography. That could be a logical approach to this–he certainly doesn’t want to regret *not* hiring someone he likes and feels does quality work. And I think others have also said this, but that’s a really good deal, especially if it’s someone you both like!

I’m sure I’m late.. :/ I had the same issue w/ my Fiance, the fees your photog are charging sound great! We settled on him paying half ($1K) of what he was comfortable with ($2K) and I paid the difference b/c photography means that much to me…($1800) good luck!
When I found out a photographer was available that I really liked, I felt like it made my heart happy…especially after losing someone we fought over as being too expensive, then the Fiance was ok with it when she dropped her rate..then turn around and backed out. :/

At the end of the day. the only thing you have left to remember anything by, other than your memories is your pictures. The food gets eaten, the flowers die, but the photos last forever. Do you really want to leave that to an amateur who doesn’t know what they’re doing?
