How about a carbon fiber wedding ring? They have loads on Etsy, and it’s certainly different, and I heard that it’s really strong and light, and it can be made into lots of different styles.

Here is the link to Etsy.com

I had never heard of iron wedding bands until this post.  That’s interesting.

I like the suggestions here for tungsten, stainless steel, titanium and carbon fiber.  Maybe show him those options and see if he’ll bite.

I agree with many other PP, Show him different options and hopefully he will change his mind.  He may just not know cool rings come in other materials.

@squeak: ohh i love the idea of a copper ring! My maiden initals are CU, which is the elemtenal sign for Copper, and I have red hair so Copper was one of my nicknames growing up. I really want to get that for SO.

I love the look of carbon fibre rings. They come in all sorts of colors and patterns too.

Copper will turn his fingers green.  Iron is a pretty bad choice.  Perhaps put it to him this way–the reason you don’t see iron rings is because they are not good ring material.

Here are a bunch of links from a shop–they range from $35 – $150 and have a lot of cool inlay

Engineers in Canada wear iron rings.

I think some are made from stainless steel now; but my Dad’s was iron.  It never discoloured his pinky..  even though he had worn it nearly smooth.

@zomgwut:  Um, those are amazing. I especially like the buffalo horn one. Thanks for opening up a whole new world!
