If thats what he wants and I were you, I would be OK with it. Its not traditional, but its OK to me because the wedding party is supposed to be people you care about and that care about you. Who cares what the genders are.

My best friend’s husband did.  She wore a black dress identical to our bridesmaids dresses.  she and I walked down the aisle together.  It wasn’t traditional, but it worked out great!

I have my male cousin (and best friend) as my Maid of Honor. I call him my Dude of Honor. My FI’s best female friend is his best man or “Best Chick”. Gender or tradition had nothing to do with our choices, we simply wanted the people we care most about standing up there with us. If your Fiance wants his best friend up there with him I think you should be okay with it.

It may not be traditional, but I see nothing wrong with it.  He should feel free to pick his attendants just as you have.  You have to respect their relationship as much as you expect her to respect yours.

My FH has a female Groomsmen. I’m pumped because she’s such an awesome friend to both of us. The Groomsmen are wearing gray suits, and she found a really cute gray dress to wear.

My bf did this at her own wedding last September – except she had one guy on her side and the groom had one gal on his side. We just called them Bridesman and Groomslady, haha. They didn’t wear anything different or special, though; the gal looked just like the bridesmaids and the guy wore the same suit as all the groomsmen.

It wasn’t “traditional”, but it was meaningful, and it’s something so easy to incporporate that no one bats an eye.

I don’t think you have much if any say at all about it. His choice for his attendendants really should be his choice.

@vmec:  gotta agree with this, why should you have any say in who he chooses? This is the most important day of his life and if he wants her next to him, he should be able to. And second, who cares about traditional?

One of my BFFs is a guy, and he is in my bridal party.  He’s my “bridesman.” I feel like friendship should def trump gender.

I read the “closet female” part of the title of the thread and thought that this was a transgender man who wasn’t telling anyone that he was born female.  lol.

Glad you’ve decided that a groomsmaid she’ll be!  We almost had a groomsmaid and a bridesman at our wedding, but our parents flipped, so we just switched them.  I love seeing it actually done, though!

@GreenEyedMoon:  Me too, that’s why I had to check out this threat to determine how they are going to pull that off. LOL!
