kylie23:  my husband and I weighed exactly the same when we were born (7lb 1oz) i was 21 inches he was 20 1/5.

I got pregnant with my daughter and I gained 65 pounds and didn’t have gestational diabetes and she was 9.3 lb 21 1/2 inches.

The doctor did a scan a few weeks before and said she was “average size” but obviously she was wrong.

Its the luck of the draw. My daughter has been in the 99th or 100th percentile since she was born and she’s 2 now. She’s still healthy and happy even though everyone thinks she’s closer to 4 years old.

I weighed 10 lbs at birth, had GD while pregnant with my daughter, carried to 40 weeks and she wished 8 lbs on the dot. Doesn’t seem to be much correlation to being big at birth or having GD…

Thankful to read these replies. Darling Husband was also 11lbs when he was born. I was in the 6lb range.  His sister was 9lbs herself and her daughther was 8lbs 11oz. I’m a plus sized gal myself, and worry about these things as well. Darling Husband is also 6’4″ to my 5’5″.  But then I look at my sister who was told based on a ultrasound my youngest niece wold be a 10lber but she ended up only being 7 lbs. So I guess it goes both ways. I’m only 7 weeks along but worry about giving birth to a monster baby based on his family. lol

Fiance and I were both in the 8lb range when we were born. Our first was 5lb 13 oz and was born one week LATE! I had gained 40-45lbs with that pregnancy. No GD. I never lost the baby weight, so I started my second pregnancy pretty heavy. I lost in the first trimester and ended up with only a 5lb overall weight gain- our daughter was 7lb 11oz (again no GD)…. so both kids were smaller than Fiance and I.

kylie23:  My Darling Husband was also a chunky little baby, but 20+ years ago they would let you stay pregnant for much longer than now. DH’s brother and SIL had a baby four years ago and they scheduled her for a C-section after the baby measured about 10 pounds. That was the max her doctor would allow babies to grow before he went in and got them. They did the same with her second son three years later.

kylie23:  they must not do many ultrasounds.. i see anything from 12 ounces to 1 lb 2 ounces.. usually all done between 18 weeks and 22 weeks.. 68th percentile isn’t high..

My friends baby was 11lbs 10! He was really long though and she delivered him with only a couple of stitches needed.

zoey0317:  I’m curious as to other ultrasound weight estimates. We had a growth scan at 28w6d and baby measured 3lbs8oz. The doctor wants to follow up at 36 weeks, saying we have a big baby. Based on the ultrasounds you’ve done, is this considered big? Everything I’ve seen on the internet says 60 something percentile..which doesn’t seem big..

zoey0317:  I just had my 20 week appointment and my baby is only weighing in at 11oz right now… not a pound! lol

kylie23:  My husband was a premature twin, and came out at 4lbs 3oz. I came out as a singleton on time weighing in at 7lb 6oz. Darling Husband is only 5’4″ and I’m 5’2″. We just had our 20 week ultrasound three days ago and baby is In the 48th percentile for size (which is bigger than I thought it’d be since Darling Husband was never even on any charts as an infant or child!)

mrsdfarrar6714:  I unfortunately don’t know weights much past 20 weeks because EVERYONE gets a 20 week but beyond that it’s only some people who get an ultrasound do idk weights for each week like that 🙁 sorry I can’t help!

LeonardLady:  I’m not saying every baby is a pound at their 20 week ultrasound.. im saying it’s not abnormal or big especially if shes 68 percentile.. big would be like 95th percentile…. my follow up Said on average 12 Oz to 1 lb and a couple ounces and all of these people are scanned between 18 and 22 weeks.. I am not a physician so please no one take my advice THAT seriously, do not go to your doctors and show them my post for the love of God and say “well this woman said….” 🙂 thanks!
