If neither one of you are attached to it and you can still return it, why don’t you do that?

My SIL completely reworked the custom ring my brother had made for her because she hated it.  She had engagement photos taken with the original ring.  You’re going to be wearing this the rest of your life so you should be happy.

I also have a half carat solitaire, it was my dream ring and like you I picked it out and my fiancé got that exact one. At first i was a little underwhelmed with my ring and started questioning if I should’ve gotten bigger or gotten a pave or halo, but I think I mainly started doing this after seeing others with larger rings and the comments I’ve seen about small rings. But it was my dream ring because I live the look of it with a pave band and so for a while I didn’t like it as much, as soon as I purchased my band and tried it on I was way happier because it was finally what I had been picturing! Now I’m super content and figure I’m happy with my diamond and ring set in general and maybe on a future anniversary I can upgrade my stone to something bigger. Here’s pics of without and with my band for reference (second pic is kinda bad lol my fingers were so swollen yesterday lol)

If it’s in the budget maybe he could give you a new ring for a wedding gift or your 1st anniversary. That would tie special memories to a new ring and you could reset the stone from your current ring into a necklace.

If you don’t like it, I’d look to add an enhancer band or a wedding band that would complement it. Also, is it a big deal if the warranty is voided if you add to or change the ring? You could just add the ring to your homeowners or renters insurance in case anything happens to it if the warranty is void.
