Maybe if you phrase it as something other than a “replacement” ring? Try calling it a stunt double or a stand-in ring so he knows you’re not trying to replace the real one.

Most people on here who have stunt rings choose ones that are as similar as possible to their actual ring.  I think if you did that then he wouldn’t feel like you dislike your ring, only that you want to keep it safe.  By choosing a ring that’s totally different you’re giving him the message that you want your actual ering to be different altogether.  Does that make sense?

hmmmmmm if its $22 why don’t you just buy it and wear it for the times you said?  I doubt he’ll even ask you about it if you only wear it when you said you will.  That is so cheap I can’t even imagine why it would be an issue.  If I’m going to be doing something physical I just leave my rings at home and don’t wear anything or if we’re on vacation I lock them in the safe.

I agree that he’s probably upset because your replacement ring is sooo different than your actual engagement ring, if you want a cheaper version you should get something as similar as possible to your ring. I think anyone would think you didnt like the ring if you pick something completely different than what you have. Just make sure you only wear it when you say you are going to and it doesnt become a regular thing……

You could just wear your wedding band in perilous situations.

My Fiance is completely against this idea as well. I suggested it one night while we were discussing honeymoon ideas, he vetoed it almost immediately. He said it’s insured if I lost it, and if I was scared about losing it to leave it in the safe and just wear my wedding band. I said it’s safer than wearing a real one. He pointed out that if somewhere were to rob me for my ring, they weren’t going to ask if it were a real diamond before they did it!

All in all, I’ll be wearing my wedding band only for anytime I’m concerned about losing my engagment ring. No “travel rings” for me.

I never understood the point of 500 different “stunt doubles”. I agree if it’s a safety concern you shouldn’t wear ANY stone bearing ringPlenty my have been robbed for their fakes.  Nothing is worth having if you have tosleep it in the safe 24/7.  That’s not how life works.

I wouldn’t call it a “replacement”, because it’s not a replacement.  It’s a stand-in.  Also, I’d just buy the cheap ring yourself if it’s only $22.

I told Darling Husband I wanted a stand in ring for when we travelled.  He was fine with it and even got one of his own!
