@CaliHoya:  I was with that type of person, and I just kept thinking I wasn’t getting my point across properly or explaining it well enough!  There seemed to be understanding when we ended the meeting, but nothing stuck.  So exhausting.

@2strapscool:  “it went something like this: chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle gas chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle gas chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle gas chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle chipotle gas.”  Um, that’s pretty much what my apt looked like last night if you know what I mean.  O_o

I don’t think putting meals on a card is smart.  I like putting consistent bill pay on there only – because you know it’s going to be a constant and you always know how much you need to pay each month, know what I mean?  It sounds like he sorta had a plan, but didn’t execute very well.  Don’t cancel the card, but you might want to freeze it.  Make him pay it off – its good for him to learn the consequences.  If you find this happens again after he pays it off, then you know he’s simply not good with credit/money and you should then start giving him an ‘allowance’ on a debit card only.  It sucks, but it’s better than tanking your own credit so he can ‘afford’ a burrito.

My hubs to be is horrid with money.  He practically throws his check at me each month and we’re both happy. ‘Treating him like a child’ should be reworded to ‘working with their strengths, not with their weaknesses’.  Ahem.

DH puts everything on his credit card.  But pays it off COMPLETELY evey singe month.  You guys need clarification on what you can afford to charge and pay off.

@WillyNilly:  What’s wrong with putting meals on a cc?  It reduces the number of transactions in a month (whether debit or the amount of cash you need to take out), so it can reduce your bank fees, and you can collect rewards.

@AB Bride:  I don’t like that it’s a variable amount.  At least if it’s constant, there are no suprises (ahem, like Chipotle).  You can pay mortgage/rent plus bills, and you should be racking up points like nobody’s business.

I never pull cash out.  Ever.  I can’t even find a taco truck that doesn’t take cards now, so the bank fees are a non-issue in my experience.
