So long story short, the guy my fiance worked closely with apparently was on his period yesterday and was calling him names just because he asked for help lifting things. So Fiance told him just to calm down then the guy just comes and hits him so he fights back (which I dont blame him for defending himself). So they called him today and said they saw the tapes and that it wasnt his fault so they fired the other guy but they said since they’ve had to lay people off lately and were going to have to some more, he would have to get laid off over this.
Now Im STRESSING about the wedding 🙁 Just needed to vent. Has anyone else been in a similar situation while trying to save?
Thankfully he’s already got a few interviews set up this week so hopefully we get lucky.

Oh man!! I’m so sorry this has happened to the both of you >.< That’s so unfair that the other guy started it but your guy’s getting fired. What was your Fiance supposed to do, lie back and let him take it? Would they have fired him then?? (rhetorical)
I hope he’s able to get a new job, it’s great that he has some interviews lined up! Good luck!!

@stephko99: Aww sorry to hear this – it seems there are more and more threads like this popping up of late 🙁
YES I can relate to this, my Fiance got laid off in April when his company got bought out and we had no notice at all… we stopped booking wedding things until he was able to find another job (which he did 2 months later all be it on the other side of the country!!).
You have time yet for the wedding and in honesty if you had to push it back a little becuase of finances you still could. However, keep thinking positive and I am sure he will be back to work in no time..it is great that he already has interviews lined up.
BIG Hugs… there is an old saying “This too shall pass” and it does 🙂

@stephko99: Yes. FI was laid off the week after he proposed (Christmas Eve 2010) and hasn’t found a steady job since. We had to cancel our big wedding and settled for an intimate backyard wedding with family and close friends. We couldn’t be any more excited and thrilled with our decision.
Best of luck to him on his interviews!

Thank you so much ladies for the comforting words! Who knows, maybe this was a god send because we both worked different shifts and only saw eachother on the weekends. He usually has good luck landing jobs, its just nerve wrecking.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I know how stressful this can be. My husband has cycled through a few jobs after he moved down here in December and it is so tough.

@stephko99: Hang in there! at least with a lay off he can collect unemployment. My husband was laid off in May and 3 days later we found out we were expecing a baby. Talk about stress! he still hasn’t found a job… You will ALWAYS find a way to make it work. Be there for him as best you can – i’m sure he will find something soon! get on the unemployment train asap – it really helps!

Wow – that is super ballsy for an employer to do. That’s nuts that after being assaulted at work, they’d “lay him off”. That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen!

@stephko99: So sorry to hear. My fiance has been off for 3 months because he hurt his back, it has been hard but at least I know he has a job to go back too. Best of luck to him in his interviews, I hope everything works out for you both!

I’m sorry to hear this… unfortunately I can relate. My Fiance got notice about two weeks ago that his company is closing down the building and transferring the work to other hubs around the country! We are currently living with his parents to save money for the wedding and a house. We had originally booked a venue, but have now cancelled and are in search of a new one because we just can’t justify spending the amount of money we were going to if we don’t even know if he will be employed by that time!!! SO STRESSFUL!!!! It looks like you have a while before your wedding so I am sure he will find something. I wouldn’t do anything drastic now and wait to see WHEN something comes up for him!

@stephko99: the wedding isn’t for over a year, why are you stressing?

That is horrible… turns my stomache actually. I’m so sorry. I just know you guys will be ok though. Not my business, but will he at least be able to collect unemployment?

@athame1983: Well my grandma was going to help out and give us $3,000 but now she cant which was bad enough, then on top of that we have to move soon which mean money has to go into a security deposit, etc. I know there is plenty of time left, but with the cost of the wedding its kind of freaking me out. But Ive always been a worry wart when it comes to money so this just adds to my insanity lol
