I am a red head with a million freckles and pale skin. He hasn’t asked me for anything else that he actually insists on. Think he will notice if my dress is ivory? LOL Seriously though, do I try to change his mind?
This me: white will not work with my colouring am I right?

A lot of wedding dresses are ivory. I don’t think he’d notice the difference. My Fiance asked me to wear white, but that was because my SIL wore red to her wedding. I think as long as you look bride-y in “white-ish”, he’ll be good. 😉

Darling Husband wanted me to wear white as well. We were at a different wedding before ours and pointed out that the bride was wearing Ivory. He could have sworn it was white.
ETA: My actual dress was white though.

I have freckles and my hair had red undertones (it was red when i was born). My dress is ivory, but you probably wouldn’t know it, my mom didn’t when I tried it on becaue she asked the girl if it came in ivory.
White is not for me.

I bet he won’t even notice if it is ivory. I think that would be a better option with your skin tone.

@Lindsay05: @MissShork: Awesome so maybe he won’t even notice 🙂 Plus, he might forget that he even wanted me to wear white in the first place… he’s silly like that.

@Ms_Smitten: He probably just means not red or purple or green. I’m sure ivory will be fine.

He will absolutely not notice if you wore ivory. Men don’t generally realize that there is actually a difference among shades of white in wedding dresses!

@cardigan: So true. I had problems telling the difference between white and ivory dresses, there’s no way your Fiance will know or care. I’m guessing he just doesn’t want you to come out in a deep tan dress or a colored one.

I agree with the other ladies. He won’t know the difference! Go with ivory!

Oh my gosh, most guys would probably call every wedding dress white unless it’s pink or blue.
I’m a redhead, too. I like slightly off-white and ivory dresses the best, but I know my fiance is going to think I’m wearing a white dress.
When I was picking white paint for the trim and ceilings in my condo, my fiance couldn’t articulate the differences between the colors in the paint deck (ones with yellow undertones vs. blue, etc.).
You’ll be fine! Don’t worry!

You could also do diamond white which is between white and ivory.

I don’t really think there is a difference between any of the “whites” that each designer offers. I mean, of course the shades are different… but they’re all basically white. I don’t think your fiance will even look at you once and say, “Is that ivory… I said WHITE!” In fact, most of your guests will have no clue it’s an “ivory” dress either. It’s all the same until you point it out to someone.

I agree with other PP’s, I don’t think he will even notice lol.

Mine was ALL ABOUT a truly white dress. After I showed him with a couple of scarves how much better ivory was, and after I told him that my mom’s veil, which I plan to wear, only really matches an ivory dress because it has yellowed so much, he gave in. He thinks I’ll look beautiful no matter what, and ivory is still a bridal color. Explain it to him, and I’m sure he’ll root for you to choose the color in the white family that looks best on you.
