    Totally reasonable, you'll have your day, let them have theirs. It's an entire week before. : (575 votes)

    just read this entire thread. Just wanted to commend you on taking advice and constructive criticism without beign defensive.

    If I would were, I would have been a little ticked off, but everyone is right, they can get engaged when they want.

    just wanted to say you should be proud of your reasonable-ism. ha

    @sarindipity:  Its selfish of tht dude who wants to propose… they WILL steal your spotlight. They will benewly engaged so a lot of attention will be on them.

    Tell him to get engaged a WEEK AFTER your wedding.

    Im annoyed for you

    @sarindipity:  Yeah, sorry I agree with the poll, you are being completely unreasonable and selfish. One happy event + another happy event = greater happiness. I always think brides sound crazy for worrying or caring that someone will “steal their thunder” for the wedding. The only thing that I can see being upset about, is if they actually proposed DURING your wedding…. that would be tacky and rude of them.

    My little sister got engaged about a week before my wedding and I was nothing but thrilled. I got my day, and the bonus is that all of our out of town family got to see her ring so soon after she was engaged.

    Her fiance asked/let me know in advance and I was 100% okay with it.

    No one will “steal” your day. Don’t stress and just be happy for them.

    @MsBlackberry:  @kate02121:

    this thread is two years old…and if you read her updates she took all of the bee responses super gracefully and totally changed her perspective.  The proposal was great, the wedding was even better, and it was a happy ending for all!

    @inspiration86:  Derp, this thread is 2 years old. She’s long gone and married by now, and she said that they didn’t steal her spotlight at all… so don’t you feel like an idiot?
