We have shows we watch together, and shows we watch on our own time. So there is no fighting for the remote for us.

We don’t watch much TV and when we do we’ll choose something to watch together (on Netflix or Amazon we don’t have cable TV). we both have a couple shows that one of us likes and the other doesn’t. So we just watch those when the other isn’t home.

If we want to watch separate shows then we watch in different rooms. We have a bunch of shows we watch together, too, so we don’t really have to haggle over tv 🙂

I don’t watch much TV so my husband usually has the remote & watches sports mostly. Occasionally we’ll vegitate together in the evenings with Family Guy or American Dad or something. Otherwise, he watches sports while I browse WeddingBee haha.

We usually watch one of “our” shows together (typically a series we’re watching on netflix or HBOgo).  I inevitably fall asleep after a few episodes and then Darling Husband puts on whatever he wants.  I DVR all my guilty pleasure shows and binge watch them when Darling Husband is away.  No remote fighting for us!

We watch TV together if we both like the show. If not, we each have the PVR set to record our own shows. If he is watching a show that is not a afavorite of mine, I do something else and vice versa.

We..are a little wierd. We have two t.v’s in the bedroom..If he doesn’t want to watch what I am or vice versa…He has to put headphones on to watch.

But we also play games too, no point in being in different rooms we made it work for us.

missythename:  We have two TVs so usually when I’m watching the shitty reality TV that I like… he excuses himself to the bedroom to watch what he wants. I’m more lenient with staying in the room if he is watching sports or something – I’ll read a book or entertain myself on the computer.

We are really good at compromise! We only have one tv with cable and no dvr, so sometimes it’s hard! But like on monday nights, he gets to watch wrestling even though that’s when Teen Mom comes on (don’t judge lol). So because I know TM will show reruns throughout the week, I watch it later. And there are a lot of days he gets to watch ESPN because I get to watch my shows at night.

missythename:  We don’t fight because we usually don’t watch live television together. We prefer to binge watch shows on Netflix or Hulu rather than week by week. So if we are watching something, it’s usually pre-determined what it’s going to be, eliminating the need for a fight. Occassionally, I will see something on television that I want to watch (it’s usually on TLC and it usually involves wedding dresses) that Fiance doesn’t want to watch, so unless I really, really want to watch it, I’ll defer to something we both like, like Modern Family reruns or The Food Network.

Darling Husband wins if English Premier League football is on! I thought by marrying a foreigner I would escape that, but he’s worse than some UK guys I know! He compromises though by letting me zap during half time…and when there’s something I really want to watch I do. Otherwise I watch Scandal and Grey’s on my Ipad.

other- we usually only watch stuff we’ve planned on watching, but if the channel surfing moments do come up we’re the opposite- we fight to be the one NOT to have the remote and make the other one do the searching and finding!

Depends on schedules however is home most has time to watch their shows. Whoever was at work all days gets the remote. But we like 85% of our shows the other does. He has been watching 24 in his office and I watch Say Yes to the Dress in mine
