I’ve been looking around at different veils online because they seem like they are the fastest to arrive. My bridal salon told me it takes 4-6 weeks to arrive, and that’s basically when my wedding is! They also seem horribly expensive. My mom however is ANTI Etsy. She trusts “professionals” who manufacture for the bridal salons. She thinks anything on Etsy is going to look handmade and crappy. Which I totally disagree with. But she seems really stuck on this veil issue. It’s probably the only thing we’ve really come to blows over.
Anyway, I like the veils made by AlisaBrides: http://www.etsy.com/people/AlisaBrides. Has anyone used her? Has anyone else bought their veil off Etsy and liked it? Maybe I just need to find another/better vendor?
She has a place in Portland, where I’m from, that can do a veil for $150 by mid-June. That’s about how much Alisa’s veils are, so I guess I could go with that. But the website doesn’t really have very good pictures of the veils and I really don’t even know what I’d be ordering.
What are some other places that do cheap(ish) veils quickly? Any suggestions?

My friend bought hers from Etsy and I’m pretty picky — I couldn’t see the difference between hers and the ones at the salon. It’s basically tulle sewn on a comb after all 🙂

I am very anti David’s but I will say that I got my cathedral length veil with scattered pearls for only $99 and they have it right in the store brand new in the package so you’d be able to take it home the same day.
I love love love Etsy! However I’m also going to mention that I ordered a monogram cake topper from someone on there and paid for it May 10th, it was supposed to ship within 8 business days which would have been last Friday and I haven’t heard a thing. With my wedding as close as it is I’m kind of freaking out because they won’t respond to my emails and I got an automated response today that they’re not there. So yeah I’d say being this close to the wedding I’d go ahead and order outside of Etsy.

i ordered my veil from http://www.veilshop.com and got it pretty quickly and loved the quality of it – the tulle was very soft, and the color was perfect (i got it in light ivory)
but, i ordered a very simple, cut edge drop veil, so i can’t attest to their quality on embroidery or anything like that.

@blu77: Do you know who your friend purchased from?

I’ve heard excellent reviews on various sites about Alisa brides on etsy. I’d go with her.

I got one of mine off of Ebay and it was perfect condition and looked professional. Then decided I wanted different one, I bought that off of here from a different Bee. Both ended up getting destroyed by my cat! So my bridal shop gave me one of hers for free!!

@Sassygrn: Thankfully we don’t have a cat around here, but I will make sure to keep the veil hidden from my parents’ cat when I go home for the wedding!

I’ve heard about and seen some beautiful veils from this place.
Tell your Mom that almost all the veils in the bridal shops can be purchased online at greatly reduced prices. I personally think that the veil is the least important accessory, so I’d look around for a better deal. You have them on for such a short time anyway!
Here’s one of them.

@ItWasntMe: Is this your veil? It’s gorgeous. What specifications did you order? I’m trying to figure out what kind of comb I should get. Metal or plastic?

I agree! I bought both of my daughters’ veils on Ebay for $30.-$40. and they were beautiful. Both sellers are no longer selling or I’d give you the store names.
The Occansey veil was on my friend’s daughter (pictured above). Hers was around $50., but I can see if she’ll give me the particulars for you if you’re interested.

Buy it, show her and THEN tell her where it’s from. 😛

I bought mine from simplebeautyveils on etsy. She even let me order 3 different veils (different trim and length) and said that I could return the ones that didn’t work, or even return them all and order a different trim/length combination. My mom saw it and said, “and how much did you pay for THAT?” and then was shocked when I told her $30 🙂
