- Wedding: September 2011
So, my parents want to throw an engagement party. I asked my Future Mother-In-Law for her invite llist and there were only FIVE people on it.
There has been some drama with one of her brothers, so she doesn’t want to invite him to anything but the wedding. However, she has two other siblings, and feels like, if she doesn’t invite the one brother, she shouldn’t invite the rest of her siblings.
Then, on top of that, she only invited a couple of very very close friends.
My Fiance and I would like his aunt and uncle and their families to be invited. And we are contemplating inviting them anyways to the engagement party.
It’s really petty family drama, and I don’t see why they can’t all just suck it up and be in a room together to celebrate their son/nephew/grandson being engaged.
They all managed to be together during Xmas without any problem. They’ll all have to be cordial during the wedding and reception. I don’t see why they can’t put differences aside for an engagement party.
Should we just go ahead and invite the aunt and uncles anyways (informing Future Mother-In-Law of course, no suprises)? Technically, it’s my parents hosting, so shouldn’t we be able to invite who we want?
I was hoping I would avoid wedding drama, but I guess everyone has it!
