- Wedding: September 2012
MY Fiance and I have been planning our whole wedding. We didn’t plan on having any help. About a month ago my FIL’s told us that they were going to foot the bill for the reception. Which I’m super thankful for. We had already planned everything for our rehearsal. We’re having the wedding be a weekend event for the most part. They’re are a bunch of out of town guests that will be their for Firday and Saturday. We’ve rented out a place that has a bunch of cottages that everyone’s staying in. We decided a while back that we were going to do a BBQ style rehearsal. Very low key. The wedding party will do the rehearsal and everyone else can sit back and have cocktails and snacks while we’re rehearsing. After the rehearsals over we’ll go over to the cabins and have our BBQ. We’re buying kegs and booze and we are going to set up a table w/ all the liquor and have it self serve. Everyone can walk around & mingle, have some kabobs and potato salad, etc. Some people can sit at the picnic tables if they want to.
Well, since the FIL’s have decided to foot the bill they’re trying to change everything. They want something completely different for food along w/ what we already want. I said ok. For the past 2 weeks they’ve been talking about hiring a bartender. I don’t want a freakin’ bartender. It’s going to be so chill. I want people to get what they want. Not have to worry about tipping, they mix drinks like they want and get a beer whenever they feel like it. They’ve brought it up about 6 times now and they won’t budge. Everytime I say “it’s really going to be mellow, backyard BBQ style. We don’t need a bartender”. It goes in one ear and out the other. Next time we talk they say “so we’re going up their and we need to find our bartender” it makes my blood boil!! Tonight now they’re talking about tablecloths (plastic) on picnic tables. I don’t want that either. Plastic tablecloths on picnic tables really!!! Ugh!! We have been planning this thing for 6 months and now they step in and claim that it’s all been their idea and plan. My Future Father-In-Law keeps saying “my” referring to his reahearsal, and his bartender, and his food, and his grill guy. It pisses me off! I think he’s just doing it so when all of his buddies get they’re he can claim that this was all “his” idea and what a great job “he” did. They don’t even ask what we want! Ugh!! Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading if you got this far- LOL!!
