@msgthoney- HI! Sorry for the delayed response, sometimes I don’t know when someone has replied to me /: Wedding Bee should have an application for that (sorry for the facebook reference, LOL). I like your idea about buying the fabric here and having the dresses made there since my FH’s mother lives in the phillipines. And thanks for the conversion help, it totally helped me with budgeting!

Thanks for putting up this link, my fh is from Manilla, and at 3 months away, I am getting confused on some of these wedding customs.

So I am glad the Ballroom dancing isn’t just a Father-In-Law thing, we love watching DWTS together, and half of our music, Cocktail, dinner, first part of dancing, is all 1950’s malt shop music.  I was wondering if anyone was having Tinikiling???

Hi all, just wanted to say “hello” and to jump into the Filipino bride pool!

We’re having a semi-filipino wedding ceremony with veil, cord, coins, and candles, but that’s about it.  For the reception, I wish we were having lechon… and crispy pata, and pancit, and tocino (LOVE tocino any time of day!).  I’m bugging my guy to have a Filipino fiesta for our rehearsal dinner, but I think he’s the only egg (white person with an yellow inside, heck yeah!) in his fam.  AND I’m trying to get him and his groomsmen to wear a barong. No go there, either. Oh well, a girl can dream πŸ™‚

Congratulations to the newly married and happy planning to everyone else!

@april_bride: My fiance is from Canada too. My wedding is in Vegas but I’m planning from Vancouver. Do you know where I can buy the veil, cord, and coins? I’m having trouble finding a place.

Hey I wanted to jump in here too!  My Fiance is half Filipino, Half Swiss, and I’m just a boring white chick. Lol.  I grew up overseas though with a huge Filipino population, so since the age of 7 I’ve been “exposed” I guess you could say to many customs.

We are actually doing 2 weddings, one in Fairfax VA and one back where I grew up!  For the VA one we’ll be doing cord and veil.  And then in our Out of Town bags will be some treats such as Sky Flakes.  (Well I know I  <3 Sky Flakes, so they are “treats” to me, lol.)  We were gonna have the Reh. dinner at his folks house (His mom’s Filipina, Future Father-In-Law is Swiss.) and have tons of yummy paincit, lumpia, leche flan, etc but they are moving soon so we have to figure something else out.  (PLUS I am a vegeterian and Mama B allllways makes me my own meat-free Filipino faves.)  But alas…

At our 2’nd celebration he’ll be sporting the Barong, we’ll do cord and veil again.  And have a ton of Filipino food.  As well as hopefully Tininkiling!

Here’s a few pics of us!  I’d like to see ya’lls pics too!

(lmao don’t you love his cheesetastic pose in the 2’nd one!)

And OMG you guys we are long distance til the wedding and it is KILLING me!  Lookin at these pics just brought a fresh wave of missing-him-itis.  I love him and  miss him SO Much he’s the other half of my soul and I can’t wait to be his wife!

(okay woah, sorry for the late night dramatics!)

@Swiss Miss to Bee: we are like twins. The boy is half Filipino (his mom) and half white (his dad) and I’m white πŸ™‚ He was born in the Phillepeans and I was born in England though.

@babyboo:omg you guys are so cute! πŸ™‚

Yeah sometimes ppl try to “figure” out what Fiance is.  Some ppl say he looks Hispanic or Italian.  And then when I tell them Filipino and Swiss they’re like “Oooh…that’s an interesting mix!”  (And then I’m like, “Uh, yeah  GOOD one obv!”)
