i’m interested in doing the cord and veil ceremony during our wedding. We’re not having a Catholic wedding, nor getting married in a church. We’ll be marrying on a beach in Aruba, with maybe just a religous ceremony. Fiance is Christian, I’m Catholic. Does anyone know if the C&V ceremony can only be done in a church/at a Catholic wedding? Thanks in advance!

@katievee: I have found at least one officiant in California that will do the cord and veil ceremony on location as opposed to in a church. It may just be a bit of a hunt to find someone who will for sure do it for you. Alternatively, if you find an officiant you like, you can ask him/her if she would be willing. If not, maybe he/she could point you towards someone who is. Good luck!

My cousin did it at her wedding, even though it was a Christian ceremony (vs a Catholic mass) and it was held in a ranch. I think it was just a matter of customising the flow of the ceremony to fit their needs. It was really more symbolic to them than religious, and the officiant was perfectly fine with it. 🙂
