My fiance is Filipino and we are planning to incorporate the veil, cord and coins into our ceremony.
My Future Mother-In-Law mentioned last night that the veil has to be pinned to my dress. Does the veil just drape over us or is it pinned? Also, is it fine that I’ll be wearing a veil too?
Thank you for your help!

The veil drapes over your shoulders. If you’re wearing a dress with straps, the veil can be tucked under the strap of your dress. If you’re wearing a satin jacket or something the veil will slip off of, you’ll want to pin the veil on. And it’s normal that you’ll be wearing your regular veil too. I wore my veil and had the Filipino veil tucked under my dress strap. You can see it in my wedding video – http://www.wellspunweddings.com/final_smcdowell.htm

I’m also from NoVA and engaged to a Filipino! (A very handsome one I might add!) I went to my first Filipino ceremony on Saturday and they pinned it to their outside shoulder. When it started to slip off of the bride’s bouffant, the veil sponsor added another into her poof of hair to keep it in place. For the money dance I’m going to ask them to pin it to my veil to preserve my dress. (Numerous safety pins in duchesse satin! Ahhh!)
