No. That is not normal. I had my first on Monday (six weeks) and will have another one in two weeks. I’m pretty sure it’s fairly normal to have at least two and possibly three. So much can change in 6 weeks! Why do they even need to keep the dress for that long?

ETA: I originally talked to a place that wanted me to come in two weeks before the wedding for my first fitting and I told them no thanks and moved on to the next place.

If she is too busy to give you the proper amount of fittings she shouldn’t have taken you on as a client. Did you ask her if she normally does more than one fitting? I just think it’s strange for an experienced seamstress to do this. Mine kept reminding me that I shouldn’t really lose more weight but that we can have the last appointment two weeks before just in case. Not really sure what to tell you, unless you feel comfortable calling and trying to schedule another seamstress (and then asking your seamstress for the dress back).

The last time I tried my dress on was in February. The next time I put it on will be in about 3 weeks.. The day before my wedding lol

Idk what is normal, but I totally feel you on this post.

My seamstress (who speaks such broken English that it makes me uneasy) is hemming the dress now, 12 weeks before my wedding, and said she wants me to come back to get it taken in to fit 5 weeks from now (7 weeks before my wedding).

I had really hoped to keep losing weight up until a couple weeks before the wedding, but if my understanding of her policy is correct, you must re-pay everytime you have to have it re-hemmed or re-taken in. So I guess no fittings for me unless I want to pay twice.

Is that normal? It’s so disappointing, & expensive!

@smallstuff:  Yeah it does stay stable so I’m not too worried about it! My wedding is in North Carolina and I live in Arizona. The dress is at my parents house, should be good to go, hopefully! ๐Ÿ™‚

@smallstuff:  Ah, yeah. I can see how you would be a little worried then! Hopefully it just fits you perfectly! That kinda stinks she won’t do another fitting. Here’s to hoping it works out in your favor!

6 weeks seems like a long time.

How much are you trying to lose?

Six weeks is quite a while. I had three fittings, my last being a week and a half before the wedding.
