It fit! Yay! I was convinced that it wouldn’t zip again. I know that my eating habits aren’t the best, but I’ve actually tried pretty damn hard to make sure I stay steady so that the dress doesn’t pose a problem, but BOTH times I went to the alterations place, it wouldn’t zip all the way — this despite the fact that I could zip it up easily (well, it wasn’t easy to bend my arms that way, but the zipper went easily) all but the last inch (because I couldn’t reach) when I tried it on at home TWO DAYS EARLIER.
But today it fit! Yay! Except for the bust. Somehow, the already-altered-to-be-perfect bust was three inches too big. She had let out the sides of the dress a bit after last time to guarantee easy zipping this time, but hadn’t touched above the rib area, but it still affected it so much that it has to be taken in up top by another 1.5 on each side. AND I poked myself on a pin again, despite declaring that I wouldn’t. My mom and the seamstress just stared at me like I had managed to step on the only landmine in a 100-acre area. Last time, I bled on the dress. Seriously, this thing has been battling me EVERY step of the way.
Also, the slip underneath was about an inch and a half longer than the hem of the skirt. It wasn’t like that on the hanger or the manequin, but it was on me. She also forgot to remove the tags from the jacket (which are visible because the jacket is sheer in the back).
So what started out as my final fitting has become…not. I’ll get it the ninth. And then it has to be pressed / steamed / whatever. I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting to be cutting it quite so fine!
