So we’ve finally narrowed down our choices for our cake, but committing to one is now the problem.
We will have a 4-tier cake with a white color buttercream (much brighter white than the photo) and yellow & white roses (probably not as many as this) with the swirlies and dots on alternating tiers (like shown).
Our dilemma is – do you like the cake with or without the grey ribbon? Our colors are yellow, grey, & white, so I love the idea of bringing in some more color to an otherwise monochromatic cake… but is it too busy?
With the ribbon (this is photoshopped, so it will hopefully look a little straighter than this lol):
And while I’m at it, which flavor cake would you like better:
(1) White cake with 1 layer of chocolate mousse and 1 layer of raspberry preserves, or
(2) White cake with 1 layer of white chocolate mousse and 1 layer of raspberry preserves
Feel free to tell me why, and thanks! =)

I like it both with the ribbon and without it, but prefer it without it just a bit more. I voted for chocolate mousse and raspberry because I really dislike white chocolate.

I voted without ribbon and chocolate mousse. Your cake design is sort of similar to what we had, and I was really happy with it!

Without the ribbon and I voted for white chocolate mousse with raspberry because I thought it sounded better. I’d definitely enjoy both though.

I think the gray ribbon just adds to the beauty of the cake, helps it “pop” a little more too.

@Westwood: Ohhhhhh I love it!!! Soo pretty and I think I like your swirly pattern better!

@PrincessBride27: I wouldn’t know what to do with the ribbon when I was cutting the cake… I know you’d just peel it off, but then would it look weird? Sorry I overanalyze everything.
I prefer without the ribbon, and the second flavor option sounds divine!

@GoldStar: LOL that’s actually a concern of mine, too! Actually the whole cake cutting ceremony concerns me – I suck at cutting cakes haha. And I think this thread is a testament to how much I overanalyze things. 🙂

The ribbon could be marshmallow fondant which is yummy. I like it with the ribbon but then I wouldn’t do the beading around the bottom. Either the ribbon or the beading in my opinion.

@mtbikelover: ooh the marshmellow fondant sounds yummy, thanks for the tip!

@Westwood: This cake is awesome!
@PrincessBride27: I voted white chocolate mousse and I say yes to the grey ribbon. I like the kick it gives the cake but either way it would be lovely :]
