Hi Fellow Bees!
I am in my early stages of wedding planning and like many of you had become distressed about how to economically decorate UGLY venue chairs. My venue has those brown folding chairs which will clash with my red, black, and white color scheme. I read tons of other posts that say guests won’t notice the chairs, but what about the pictures? It seemed like a nut I just couldn’t crack…until I found this website: http://www.yourweddingcompany.com/index.php/action/showProject/projectId/27/categoryId/108/
The best I thought I could do was spend about $1.50 per chair cover used from another bride’s resale and then ~0.50 – $1 per sash. For 125 chairs that is no less than $250, more likely $300+ (not including S&H). This may not seem like a lot, but we’re trying to have a spectacular wedding on a budget with all the trimmings. So, there are a ton of places that few hundred dollars can be better spent (i.e. lighting, waiters, clean up crew, etc).
By making a tulle chair back design with 2 yds of fabric (without the flower) it will be ~46 cents per chair!!!! Totalling $58 for 125 chairs vs $300!!!
This is because I can get bolts of tulle from this website at 23 cents per yd. Most places sell it at $1/yd. http://www.giftsintl.com/tullefabric.php
Although the whole chair won’t be covered, it can cover the top half which is what really stands out in a reception. Sorry fellow bees, but I do think that ugly chair backs will stick out like a sore thumb, but I agree that no one will really look at the chair legs.
Well, I hope this posts helps some of you out there in your planning!
