I’ve never had facebook because I really have no interest in what everyone else is doing or thinking and I have no desire to post my own stuff on there.

BeeG35:  Your first paragraph perfectly described what mine has turned into! I really need to take the plunge. Good job!

Be prepared to find out who your friends are! People almost forget about you when your not on social media! It’s sad life has come to that

BeeG35:  Welcome to the non-FB club! I came off it nearly a year ago after getting a lot of useless tags and both sets of parents discovering FB. I can’t believe I used to be on it just cos I was bored. The best thing is people ask me how I am and what I have been up to as opposed to ‘Oh yeah, saw on your FB you got engaged (for example)…”

I enjoy making more of an effort to meet up with friends in real life and finding out their news naturally.

Good on you though. Enjoy your new freedom 🙂

BeeG35:  I don ‘t have Fakebook either. Most people I know that deactivated don’t regret it. You can still visit the pages you like anyway.

I deleted my account several months ago. If I want to know what my friends are up to I can just ask them instead of stalking them!

I deactivated my account in 2012 as I was studying for the bar and it was a time-suck. i never went back and when SIL complains about mutual friends and stupid drama, it makes me so happy i am ignorant to it by being off facebook lol.

BeeG35:  More power to you! I agree 100% with all of your logic and reasonings and most people I talk to about this think I’m crazy. I haven’t used Facebook in close to 3 months without deleting it and FB would actually email me saying “oh you haven’t logged in? Why? Look at all these notifications! Look, here are some of your friends statuses!” It was very creepy. I’ve deleted the app and just let it chill as is without using and it feels SO FREAKING GOOD. Seriously, good for you! I could not empathize more with your situation and the negative effects of such a pervasive social media platform.
