My fiance, mom, and niece (MOH) went shopping for the first time today and I found my dress at my first appointment! I am so blessed that this process was so easy, because I had a clear idea (and a few concerns) about dresses, and went into this a little nervous (I already canceled two other appointments prior to today).
One of my main fears in this whole process is being a plus-sized bride. I didn’t want to go in with high expectations and then only have one or two dresses to actually try on in my size. And to coincide with that, I feared that of those few choices, I would have to settle for a dress that I only felt “meh” about.
Also, I have big time constraints. We went from September 2017 to February 2016 for our wedding date, so time is definitely against us in many respects. This makes me fear not having time to order a dress and get it in time, which means I’d have to take a dress off the rack…not something I’m keen on. Call me picky, but I figure if I’m spending $1,000 on a dress, the least I can expect is to have it only ever worn/tried on by ME.
All this to say that the experience was really good. Other than a push to try to get me to finance (no thank you, I’ll pay cash) the rest of my appointment went well. So, stats. I got my dress from David’s bridal. It’s dress #9v3587 in ivory/champagne. I need to order it one size larger, so overlook the too snug fit. For all of you still shopping, good luck!

Looks so gorgeous on you!! That is in my top 5… The only thing keeping it from being my fave for me is the zipper back — I really want a corset back and it would put the dress over budget to add that into the alterations too. But man, I love everything else about that dress — especially the color!! That ivory-over-champagne is my #1 must-have.
Congrats on finding your dress!!!

creativeplannertobee: KrisMarch: annalise9: Robyn0214: JTbridetobee: thank you all so much for the compliments. It means more than you know to get affirmation like this. You guys are great. 😊
crazy4disney: Thank you very much! I agree with you actually on the zipper. I was set on buttons, no zip. But then again, this dress goes against everything I thought I wanted when I set out.
I originally had a long sleeve or 3/4 length sleeve, no sweetheart neckline dress in mind. I tried that style on but we all didn’t like it on me one bit. It was even one of my favs from online.
The main reason we pulled my dress was for the color…loved it. And once I had it on, we all agreed it was perfect. if I had time for alts I would think of maybe adding sleeves, but I love it as is. Good luck on finding yours!
