- Wedding: July 2012 - Baltimore Museum of Industry
Procrastination paid off! My engagement ring was a family diamond from the 50s (or earlier), solitaire set in yellow gold. Fiance proposed in January, and I’d found some settings I liked, but I just couldn’t commit. I haven’t been able to wear it because the setting was lose, so it hasn’t felt like I’d had an engagement ring.
I’ve always loved scrolled rings, things that are a little different. Yesterday I FINALLY found it- found a salesperson who *listened* to me, suggested an estate setting that we could put the diamond into, and I am over the moon excited about my ring now! The diamond has some “war wounds,” and I wasn’t crazy about putting an old diamond in a new setting, so this is perfect. We’ll get it back a week before the wedding, and I’ll be wearing it as a right-hand ring. Yeh!!

That ring is gorgeous! I’m super jealous of all the people on here that have old stones in their family!

*gasp* I LOVE IT I actually tired on quite a few estate rings when we were shopping around. We couldnt quite find one that was in our budget that I really liked. Plus my Fiance was so insistant that he gets to pick the final ring and it was to be a suprise. He did great I love my ring but I know in the future I will probably buy an estate ring as a right hand just because I love them. But I also get my great grandmothers e-ring from the 1920’s my grandmother has it now but she told me that she will give it to me when the time is right. (I have a feeling that will be at my wedding) well I hope. It will be really nice to have a piece of family history with me at the wedding.
