after lots of wondering, we have finally figured out our theme. get ready, because it’s SHOCKING.
And the theme of our wedding is going to be…
crazy, huh?! 😉
it will be food we love, music we love, clothes we’re comfortable in, ideas we think are fun. all surrounded by people who mean the most to us.
how simple, the theme was right in front of me the whole time. just US.
who’s with me on this new – but invaluable – revelation?!

congratulations! how will that work though, exactly? i mean, our wedding is about “us” too, but it also has a rustic theme so we knew where to go with decor and what not. i swear, i’m not being snarky, i’m just curious. like… do you guys travel a lot to foreign places together and will have a mix of those trips in your wedding?? or are you both avid readers and will have library/bookish type stuff?? cause… we’re campers, nature people that are pretty casual and that is where the rustic theme came from for us.

@vagabondgurl – hi!
some things we’re incorporating are:
-tables will be named for cities we’ve visited together, along with small pictures of us IN those cities alongside the centerpieces.
-food is southern bbq. he moved to NC from CA and i had to school him in southern food. he loves it and now we get to introduce his entire CA fam to it when they arrive for the wedding!
-music is just what WE love, don’t care if anyone thinks our first dance song is odd or cheesy!
-not doing tuxedos. my fiance and his guys are just not the type to get that fancy. doing really pretty ties with black suits instead.
-we’re using our colors to pull it all together… lots of sky blue, black, and white everywhere.
i guess you could call all of the above just lots of “personal touches”, but i’m just glad to not be worried about finding a grand theme and just including lots of personal stuff that we think is fun!

awesome! i can so picture it now! i love your table “number” idea… to me, that seems to be the easiest place to add a personal touch and yet so many brides still use numbers!
southern food sounds wonderful, and who neds tuxedos!??! my FH isn’t even wearing a tie.. haha.
fantastic ideas, have fun!

We picked the same theme
We just feel like instead of our wedding being full of things that are “typical wedding” things, we are filling it with things we like/want.
For the food, we are having fajitas/tacos/nachos because Mexican food is the FI’s all time favorite. Some people thought it was weird when I told them that’s what we had decided, but all my guests I have mentioned to are super excited about it!
Also, instead of tapping their spoons to glasses, we are having a pair of thundersticks (plastic stick balloon noisemakers you get at basketball games) at each chair for the guests to bang together! We are HUGE sports fans so I think it will be fun 🙂
It’s really important to me, as sounds like it is to you, that the details of the wedding show who we are, and what we like.
