- Wedding: September 2012
Short story, we got married by a JOP (w/none of my family or our friends) almost 10 years ago & Darling Husband promised me a wedding & reception with friends & family someday. Since we’re so close to a big anniversary, I pointed out to him that I was still waiting for that wedding. He stated it couldn’t happen unless we suddenly came up with $15 grand or won the lottery. I (being the fool I am) took the challenge and stated I could pull it off for $2,000.
Yeah, I know now that I had NO idea what I was talking about, but a challenge is a challenge, and I think I can really pull this off.
Anyway, he smirked at me and told me to go ahead & see what I could come up with. That was about a month ago. Last week, I met a friend of a friend who’s a FANTASTIC photographer, and she agreed to photograph our wedding (SO thrilled about that part!). A few days later, I found “The Dress” for $250 at David’s (Oy, that’s a whole other story!). The next day, I put down the deposit for the rental of a picnic pavillion at our local KOA campground. $250 for the whole day, including use of the kids’ play area for the children in attendance! We’re planning on supplying about 1/2 the food, as well as tea, water, juice boxes (for the kids) & beer. Everyone’s bringining some kind of dish (we’ve got lots of funky dietary restrictions in our group, so this helps out as well) to fill out the tables. Two friends are supplying the wedding cake (culinary arts graduates), and others will be working with me on ‘wedding-ifying up the venue’. I never really had that ‘I’m a bride’ feeling until I saw photos of myself in The Dress. Now I’m somewhere between terrified & thrilled. I may just be able to pull this off & we’ll have a great wedding!
