    Your dress is beautiful!

The best way to cut your budget is to itemize what is most important to you and not spend as much on things that aren’t as important to you. I would also recommend researching vendors as best as you can to ensure that you are getting a reasonable price for their services.

First of all, congrats on finding such a beautiful dress!

And I do agree with Golden139: you need to figure out what’s most important to you for your wedding, and then spend accordingly. Like you, I ended up spending more than I would have preferred on my dress, but in the end, my Fiance and I decided that buying my particular dress was on that “important for our wedding” list. We’ve cut in a lot of places so far: my friend has gifted us engagement pictures, we’re getting married at a beautiful and very reasonably priced outdoor venue that needs no decorations, we’ve kept out guest to family and close friends (around 75 people), we only have two people in our wedding party (MOH and Best Man), etc. So many costs have already been cut, which leaves plenty for those things we really care about, like my dress and hiring this amazing photographer. It’s all about figuring out what’s truly important to you and being willing to find a good deal on the rest.

That dress is gorgeous! I was lucky to only have to go to one salon. I cannot wait for the dress to come in! It’s feels like torture that they make you wait so long for the dress to come in. ๐Ÿ™‚ You can definitely cut the budget in other areas. If you have a creative streak, try ordering flowers in bulk and doing your own arrangements. That will save you a bunch.

@TortieMarie She actually offered without me asking or even bringing it up! She’s still new to the photography business, so I’m sure it will help build her portfolio. She’s also a really old friend, so I think she just wanted to do something nice for us. She recently got married herself and appreciated all the help others gave to her, so she and her husband are anxious to pass on the love to other couples, which I’m so excited about!

And I’m sure there’s a way to ask for people to contribute “gifts” towards the wedding. I think it’s probably just important to have a lot of tact when approaching people, and I would definitely only approach people I have a good relationship with. You, your Fiance, and your parents could spread the word that you’re open to having people “gift” wedding items, and I think you’d be surprised how willing people are contribute, especially if it allows them to bless your wedding day with their specific talents (i.e. make your cake). I think if you just have a lot of humility, grace, and excitement about how your friends would contribute to your wedding, they will be a lot more willing to help make your day really special.
