LizLemon:  My dh is allergic to certain anesthesics. They found out when he went into shock during a surgery so I am super glad you have found this out now. It isn’t too serious of a thing just something to remember for possible surgeries. My dh just tells them every time and since then no issues.

Super glad that is the only concern!

LizLemon: It sounds like the anesthesia related gene might be for pseudocholinesterase deficiency?  Just make sure every anesthesia provider knows and they will adjust the anesthetia plan accordingly. If that’s what they’re talking about, it just means his body might not be able to metabolize certain anesthetics as effectively, so they last longer. If you’re TTC, it’s also something to notify your anesthesia providers about in case you end up needing to go the OR while you’re pregnant or for delivery.
