Good news. It’s been several months of working through family drama, health continuing to be affected by it and little emotional rest from all that surrounded our engagement/wedding. It got to the point where the verbal/emotional abuse I suffered from DH’s family caused me to relapse into self-injury, unhealthy thoughts I strugged through in high school. Thankful to finally get in on Friday… scared too, though. :/
I hate hate hate first meetings with counselors and feel like if I opened up it would take hours and no one would take me seriously that so much crap can happen to one person within a few years.
happy and nervous at the same time… but sooo glad to be getting some help in dealing with so many issues our marriage counselor overlooked.

Awesome! Great job and good luck 🙂
I need to get into counseling too, but I am scared to take the first step.

Don’t be nervous, you’ve already done the hardest part… making the first appt.! You are on the road to better days. And, don’t worry about what they will think… this is their job and they are experienced and skilled… they’ve probably heard everything already. They are not there to judge you, they are there to help you. Good luck!

Just know that you are on the right track and you’ve got a boatload of Bees here to help you through this while you work out the kinks with your counselor. You go girl. =)

@SimplyChic11: That’s awesome. Congrats. It’s so hard to actually get into counseling between insurance issues/scheduling issues, etc. I definitely feel ya. I really should go back to my counselor, but I’m really bad… and lazy, and in that state where I think I’m in a good place, so trying to say that I don’t need it. Still working on it… So happy for you!!!
