So all my adult life (after being under my dads insurance) I have worked at a hospital. I immediately had insurance coverage and it never had any pre-existing riders or whatever at the hospital. Anyway, after I got my masters I moved out of the hospital and finally got my health insurance covered at my new job….5 months later. Anyway, turns out my husband is looking into moving us to another state for two years to complete a post doc….which means a new job. I was really hoping to go back to our home state to live but I realize whatever helps him I should be down for.
Anyway, so I noticed on my new insurance maternity coverage doesn’t start until 10 months after my intial coverage date. Not that I am planning on getting knocked up right now (but lets face it not many people plan that appropriately)….but anyway this has got me thinking….when am I going to be able to plan on trying? We dated 10 years before marrying, so it isn’t like we need to get used to much like living together and such. I’m 28….if we were move to another state (which if he takes it, will start in Feb) and I had a similar policy at a new job….that means 10months +5 months wait+9 month pregnancy=24 months…basically I will be 30 with my first child. However….I don’t want to get pregnant while in another state. I would like to move back to our home state. So ideally, that means feb +2 years+5 months+10 months+9 months=ridiculous. I know I am over thinking this but it just worries me….ugh…so it started making me think about trying to get a hospital job again…whereever life takes us. Ugh I just wanted to vent….
