We have been at this base for a while and I haven’t quite connected with anyone…Well, after a couple of terrible break-downs regarding my husbands deployment I have found a friend! Ack, I know this is weird but it is so hard meeting people when you leave high school and join the military community!

@Payless: If you don’t mind me asking, what worked for you? I hope my break through will happen any day now…

@gelaine22: I was in the same position and it was awful! I am literally the only college student with no kids around here and it drives me nuts! I pretty much was at the end of my rope when I found this chick and man was she needed!
@wubewe: I posted on the facebook page that was deticated to the wives at my base and just wrote, “I am young, in college, no-kids, and looking for anybody to spend girl time with! So far I haven’t had any luck with meeting people here and my husband is deploying soon. If anyone can relate then please head my way!”
A girl messaged me and said she hasn’t made friend yet either. We met up for coffee and so far I absolutely love her! I seriously needed somebody (anybody) and she fit the bill π
I would start with the facebook page and see if you can catch a couple interested eyes! A few other people messaged me but this chick was the ONLY one who stood out to me as a good possibility. I am also going to join the spouses club to try and meet a few other ladies π
What base are you at (feel free to PM me the answer) because I would LOVE to meet another lonely military spouse!

@Payless: That’s good news. I just wanted to suggest you meet as many of the women who responded to you as possible. In my first marriage my ex was transferred every 12 months so I was always making new friends. Don’t be too quick to judge that someone won’t be a match. Some people just aren’t very good at selling themselves.

@julies1949: I have a coffee date with one of the ladies and then the other I am joining for caroling π
I don’t think they will be a match but I am giving it a shot first!

I’m glad you’ve found a friend! It is so hard when you move to a new place.

@Payless: Yay! So happy to hear this – even in non-military settings, it is hard to make friends when physically on your own. You have a fun and friendly personality on the Boards so I had no doubt it would transfer to the real world sooner or later in helping you meet people. π
