- Wedding: October 2014
I had mentioned in another post that my mother fell seriously ill last year and he had been planning to propose last August. I didn’t feel right then and I asked him to hold it off until the whirlwind that was my and my family’s life calmed down. The day before christmas, I told him it was ok now and then we had a timeline set of before the end of March. Well March 30th came and it happened!
He drove us in the morning to Landcaster, CA (it’s about an hour and a half drive from where we live) without telling me anything. I kept asking, because if any of you know…the drive from the Los Angles area to Landcaster is filled with a whole lot of nothing. He wouldn’t tell me anything…he just kept telling me to wait. Next thing I know, he is pulling into the In-and-Out there and it dawns on me. Our first year of dating, we were driving back from San Francisco and it ended up being a 14 hour drive. He told me that it was there that he realized we were compatible and that he was falling in love with me. We had lunch and reminisced about that trip and the last almost 4 years.
Then, we get back in the car and we head back into LA. We end up at the Getty Museum. We walked around and looked at the art and made our usual childish and inappropriate jokes (because seriously, we have the collective maturity of a 15 year old sometimes ). It was so much fun. We wandered outdoors to look at the view; it was a goregous day. We were sitting on the grass, talking and joking and watching the people walk by. I stood up, as we were talking about heading to the car when I turn back and he’s on one knee. He gave me the most adorable explanation of why he brought me to the art museum; he told me that I was his artistic match for his analytical self and he wanted us to be together forever. I of course said yes and the next thing I know, I hear clapping and cheering. We had collected an audience…he had tried to get us to someplace a little private but it was really busy that day. It was the most awesome day ever and he found the perfect way to propose for me.
Here’s the ring…I had picked it out myself but I hadn’t seen the final piece. The center stone and the band were two separate items…but the sapphires matched up so perfectly when they placed the stone in the band for me to see the setting…I fell in love with it right there. I tried to get a good shot of the sides but it’s with an iPhone so not the best pictures (sorry if they are big!)
