Hey Bees! I finally made a decision and ordered the Watters Austin! It is so lovely and flowy and I cannot wait to get it in my size! The problem is that the one in the shop was 7 sizes too large and…really flat. They had a crinoline but I feel like it was huge! How do I get a little poof to the waist of this dress without getting the Quinceanera look?
Sorry for the terrible pics, its dark and the sample was just way too big on me!
Left (me just pushing it up) Right (Quinceanera poof-way too big for me)
How do I get just a little poof?

Could u pull crimoline or tulle underneath ?

@nearlymarriedlass: Hmm, I don’t know! The skirt is silk organza. I wonder if tulle is just something they could sew up under the dress by the waist, that way I can avoid the hoopy looking bottom? I need to find an alteration wizard and I don’t even hav the dress yet haha!

I think there are different types of petticoats with crinoline and some are less poofy than the others.

There are several different kinds of crinolines you can choose from to get the right amount

If you’re trying to get a specific shape (poof at the waist but it doesn’t flare out past that), you can look for a petticoat that matches that shape. Especially if the petticoat is made with tulle, you could even cut some of the tulle so it’s not too poofy at the bottom. Also, many hoop skirts have adjustable-size hoops, so you could make sure it’s the shape you want.

@MissWitty: oh I love the 2nd pic! You look like a princess!!!!
But I can see how that could possibly be too much as well… lol
I definitely would get an a-line or ballgown crinoline.
