I have been waiting for this for weeks!! When I first picked out my dress, I loved the dress, hated the styling. It had this sash of weirdness that made me look big around the middle, but seeing past that (and despite a lack of slip when trying it on) I knew it was right and ordered it. Here’s the dress the day I ordered it:
Of course, in the intervening weeks I’ve looked at this pic and wondered did I pick the right dress, should I reconsider (again, as this is now the third dress I thought I’d get). I knew that sash had to go, if nothing else, and it needed a crinoline. I also wanted to reconsider the mantilla veil I’d bought to go with another dress- this dress was bling-free, although I was set to change that, and the veil had pearls and sequins.
Well, today, I picked her up and made my final veil decision. After we did some in-store dress surgery (cut the sash off the dress, and cut the applique off the sash), added some blingies I picked up at Macy’s, and finally settled the veil question, here she is!
It’s a darn good thing my shoes aren’t any higher, because after the bust comes up in alterations it’s going to be the perfect length with the slip. And I settled on the veil I never expected- cathedral length. I always pictured myself as this super non-traditional bride, figured I’d be in maybe a birdcage veil, definitely an ivory dress, nothing strapless. And here I am! Strapless, white, lace, cathedral veil. Haha. This is the shot that sold me on the veil, though (ignore my crappy bra’s guest appearance and my grandmom’s head):
I love it though. Just goes to show you, go in with an open mind and you never know what might surprise you.
