I am a long-time lurker here on Weddingbee. My dear BF knows how picky I am, so we thought it was a good idea that I help pick out my engagement ring. I was looking for a ring that was budget-friendly, unique, and true to my personality. The first step for me was definitely picking a stone. I went between sapphire and moissanite for a while, and I ultimately decided on a sapphire. I like that it is a mined stone that I will be able to pass down to my children/grandchildren, even though I also love lab-created stones. We are currently paying for this sapphire that we found at Shane Co: https://vid.me/1MWK I love how it is a rich, cobalt color that sparkles like crazy. It is exactly a 1 ct. cushion cut “Kentucky Blue” sapphire, and the measurements (which I can’t remember off the top of my head) are also a good ratio.
My intention is to set the sapphire into a rose gold setting. I am not 100% on this setting, but it’s probably my favorite so far. There would be four double prongs around the stone, but I was testing out my sapphire in the display ring meant for a round stone. I matched it with a solid rose gold wedding band for fun. I’d love to hear some feedback from my favorite wedding forum. What do you all think of the stone and (possible) setting? Thank you! 🙂

Love the stone you picked. It’s beautiful! A 4 prong setting will make the stone look slightly more square, so just be aware of that.

I like it! I also have a sapphire/diamond ring and I love that it’s just “me”, you know? If you feel that this is you – then I say go for it. It looks good, from an outsiders’ perspective and it’s unique not everyone will have that! And it would be a great heirloom if you choose to go down that route! 🙂

Gorgeous stone 🙂 And I’m suprised how much I lke it in rose gold! I had it in my head that I like colorful gem stones with white metals, and white stones with colorful metals. Looks great!

Oh my gosh i love that! me and my fh went to shane co and played with making a sapphire ring. i ended up just with the setting and getting them to set a moissanite in it. my wedding band is going to be that setting’s match from their bands! it is a 3/4 “eternity band” with sapphires around it.
I love what you picked out! i would probably go with the vintage engraved one over the smooth solitaire.

Wow!! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful stone. I love the color. I really love the blue with the rose gold setting, too. And the setting you showed here is super pretty. The detail on the band’s profile is gorgeous!! Congratulations on finding your perfect stone!!
