I am recently engaged and although we probably won’t book a venue for a little while I have been looking at all my options. I live just outside Montreal, Quebec and I was looking for a venue that fit my criteria:
Rustic/Forest, We could bring our own alcohol, Could fit 125 People and was aesthetically pleasing (which for means usually means exposed beams) Lastly something that wasn’t extraordinary expensive to rent out for one evening and had tables/chairs.
After going through a few venues and finding some that checked off some items off my list but not others I thought I would be resigned to getting a few things, but not all. However, I just recently came across a not very well known venue about 30 mins from where I live. It is in a nature reserve, has lots of trails, a beautiful pond and most importantly a brand new chalet that can hold 125 people! I love the look of the outside and from some photos I have found it seems to even have exposed beams inside. This is the venue picture and the surrounding area:
On an even brighter side there is a huge botanical garden nearby where they have weddings. They have about 4-5 themed garden. It is funny I have lived here all my life and never heard of them. Granted the gardens only opened in 2011 and this garden only opened in 2013 so they are fairly recent. However, there is a spectacular shade garden where they used the columns and beams from an old church that was torn down in the area. I am just in love with the site and am hoping I can work it in as the ceremony site, plus the whole site is just spectacular for photos. I just wanted to share my findings!

FutureMrsW2015: Thanks! It is called Route des Gerbes d’Angelica Jardins Thematique. It is a smaller city garden, but they have very nice landscaping/sculptures and themed gardens (which i think will make for some interesting photos). This is the website:
I am a little bit worried that the ceremony space will be a bit cramped for the guest, but I am having a small wedding so as long as I place the chairs in a circle I think it’ll work well. I am pretty excited to go visit in person.

Wow this is SO beautiful!! It looks so much like a venue I’ve been to for a wedding in North Carolina recently!! I’m from Montreal too and wow this is an amazing finding! Never even heard of it and went to Salon marions-nous etc. Just by curiosity when are you getting married? I wonder how it looks different depending on the season etc. Congratulations!!! 😀

thesummerangel: Thanks! We are thinking next Fall so that’s why I have it up there in both seasons. The one with the leaves was taken in October and the more lush green photo was taken in Julyish. We are still trying to decide what looks best, but I always liked the month of September. This garden is in Mirabel and just opened in 2011 so they’re quite young, the garden with the church just opened last Summer so they just are starting to have their first weddings there. I am not even sure if they built it with weddings in mind, but on their facebook I saw that some other ladies had the exact same idea as me when they saw it :P. Only issue is the alter space is small for seating, but I will try and find a way to make it work if I can. It is just so unique.

SeahorseSwish: Ahhh the fall would be perfect!! Exactly what I was thinking!! Hopefully there will be enough space yes! It’s funny they didn’t think themselves about weddings because it does look perfect for hosting one : ) Good luck with your planning!!!
