Ok, February 2013 Bees..I’m sure some or many of you have already tried on/bought your dresses, but I guess I’ve been slacking. I made an appointment today for next week to try on dresses. I’m excited, but a little nervous, because I have no idea what will look good on me!
How is everyone else doing with their dress?

@mrsvelezzz: I am so excited for you! I didn’t bother going dress shopping here. You have to pay to try dresses on and dresses here are so expensive so I knew from the beggining that I would be buying my dress online. My dress should be here by next week!!
I hope you have a great time. Are you taking anyone (Mum, BM’s etc) with you?

That’s exciting! I’m going to try on dresses this Friday with my Maid/Matron of Honor. There’s only one dress shop anywhere near home and even though I’m making my own dress, I still wanted the experience of trying on gowns. I wouldn’t change the fact that I’m making my own dress though. I just see this as a chance to do something really wedding-y with my best friend!

@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: Wow, I’ve never heard of paying just to try dresses on. Yeesh!
My dress was the first thing I did, haha! a) It was the only thing I could do at the time, since Fiance was entrenched in law school and we were a 2+ hour drive away from our intended wedding location and b) I was paranoid that if I put it off, I wouldn’t get my dress in time/would have limited options, since a certain un-named site said that it could take 9 months for a dress order to come in (note, this is a lie. Unless you’re getting something completely custom made. DB can get you your dress in 12 weeks), but luckily, I am the same size that most places have their samples in, so I was able to purchase a sample dress (and get a discount!) instead of ordering one.

@PrincessConsuelaBananaHammock: I’m thinking Maid/Matron of Honor or my mom, since everyone else whose opinion matters lives out of town. I’m also going in the next week with my Maid/Matron of Honor to try different styles of her dress on, and I’m excited to see how they look on here, and what she chooses!

By the way…I went to try on dresses alone today. For me, it was more important for me to have my own opinion on the dresses and not be swayed by anyone else’s opinion. It’s always been like that when I shop for clothes. I know what I like, and I know what looks good and what looks horrible on me. Going wedding dress shopping alone was actually very stress-free and I could quickly move past the dresses that looked horrific. LOL the first one I put on completely smashed all my fit-and-flare dreams (it looked horrible on me) and then I knew I didn’t have to waste any time trying on any others in that style.
