I got my award letter with my financial aid listed over 3 weeks ago. It still has not been credited to my account and they keep saying I will have a hold put on the account soon. I called today and the guy was like “I’ll have an advisor call back, the letter went out over 3 weeks ago so I’m not sure why it was not credited.”
Am I being kicked out of school? Or is this strictly something to do with money/aid? Why would an “advisor” need to call me? I’m so paranoid about getting bumped out of this program, mainly because I quit my job to focus on this and I am so afraid I’ll be left with nothing that any bump in the road makes me on edge. Has this happened to anyone else before?

@soyjoy222: I highly doubt you are being kicked out of school. Usually the financial aid office at universities is pretty accustomed to dealing with the problems with billing.
Relax, they probably want you to speak with a counseler because the people you called are unaware of how to proceed.
Take it one step at a time! No need to worry yet. If you absolutly have to you can always take out a private loan to offset the cost of this semester.

You won’t be kicked out of school.
The beginning of the fiscal year for a university is a hectic time and there are many errors that are made. I’m on a full-ride, and they haven’t put it in my account yet, either, and I always have to go through the process of filling out a FAFSA anyway even though I don’t use it. I phoned my coach (it’s an athletic scholarship) about the issue and they just now addressed it, but it won’t be listed until next week.
It’s strictly a financial aid issue, and it should be sorted out soon, especially since you’ve talked to the necessary people. Stressful, but you’ve done your part; you just have to wait for them to do theirs.

I remember that financial aid always took forever to credit so I wouldn’t worry about it unless the school specifically tells you that you are being kicked out. If they know that you did apply for FA, it’s usually fine and they will let you stay and go about your day as normal. The only thing that was ever a problem for me was purchasing the books as the money never came early enough to do my book purchases ahead of time so I had to use a CC and pay it back when the FA came in. The advisor is probably going to call back to verify that 1) it’s on the way 2) will reassure you that it’s fine.

omg thank you everyone. I was so nervous. I don’t want them to drop me from my classes or anything, but it sounds like they will not. Hopefully they call back this week and we can settle this 🙂

I am still waiting for my financial aid for these classes I’m taking online to clear…meanwhile I cannot afford my books. Hurray! I called them two weeks ago — they said they’d call back. I called them last week — they said they’d call back.
But…they won’t kick you out of school.
