@mrspinesol:  I’m not anymore. We lost both pregnancies. I was on the pill at the time, so I am certain that played a role. We were not actively TTC either time (I guess that’s obvious, being on the pill). When we do, I will get off the pill for at least 6 months to let it “flush” out of my system and take the appropriate vitamins (prenatals, folic acid, etc).

One was an early-ish loss and one was later. We had already created a nursery, which still exists in my house (the door is always closed and I don’t go near it). I will never make that mistake again. No more baby stuff until I am as sure as I can be that the pregnancy will “stick.” Hopefully in the next few years it will happen for us ๐Ÿ™‚

I have another similar scary story- my best friend and I were living together when we were in our early 20s and she didn’t know she was pregnant until she was 27 weeks.  She had her period for 3 months and then took many, MANY negative tests after that (in typical college-girl manner we always BOTH took a test together so I saw the negative tests with my own eyes.)

When she finally tested positive, they told her she was probably 12 weeks along and she made an appt to abort.  It was during that appt when they did the ultrasound that she found out that she was 27 weeks and was too far along to terminate.  She gave birth to a 9lb healthy baby a few months later and I now have a 9yr old godson.

SCARY STORY.  Even scarier was when we had to try to figure out who the father was… we were a bit of a mess during that time (lots of drinking/drugs/partying) and trying to remember 6-7 months back was…challenging.

@darlingbee:  most women who exclusively breast feed will not get theit period for a while. Especially if you nurse or pump in the middle of the night. Even when you stop it still might take 3 months before regulating.

I have three of these stories, none of them are mine thank goodness.

My roommate’s sister’s best friend: She was on seasonel or whatever the 4 periods a year pill is. So she naturally didn’t have a period for three months. She thought she just skipped one (of the 4) and didn’t figure out she was pregnant until she was 7 months.

My other roomate’s friend: She was a semi-pro soccer player and played for her national team. She started having serious back pain to the point where she had to retire because she couldn’t play, everything hurt, etc. She gained a little weight, mostly on her hips. She went to the hospital thinking she had appendicitis and it turned out she was in labor. The baby had been laying across her torso so she never showed at all.

One of my teammates had an IUD and was traveling for a month in Australia. She thought she had food poisoning after the first few days because she was so sick, but it wasn’t going away. It was actually hyperemesis gravidarum and she was pregnant. She had to have a surgical removal of the IUD in Australia and then fly back to the US. Her daughter is the reason I POAS every time AF doesn’t show despite my IUD. You never know.

We found out at about 5 weeks, so not a long time after you normally would if you were TTC, but we had been trying for over a year so on CD25 I had called a fertility clinic to set up an appointment for some help… the nurse choose a date 6 days later so that if I had my period on CD 28 then I would be on CD3-4 for the appointment and could get a slew of tests done… The days came and went and by the day of our appointment I still hadn’t gotten AF… I did however get 3 BFNs at 10,12&14DPO…. So I figured that I was having an odd long cycle so I wanted to POAS to be positive that I wasn’t pregnant and beg the doctor to jump start AF so we could get the show on the road… Well, it was a BFP!! DH came home from work and I was like “umm, don’t think we need that appointment after all …” We ended up going and having blood work done to confirm ๐Ÿ™‚

Me and my ex husband (obviously husband at the time) were trying to get pregnant for four months with no luck…The fifth month we decided to take a step back and reevaluate the situation and figure out if this is really what we wanted we then decided that was not what we wanted and we were going to wait a year to have a baby. I shit you not 3 weeks later I started getting achey and I knew (I really knew) I was pregnant but I would not let myself acknowledge it for 3 weeks I would just deny it one day my husband came home with a pregnancy test and made me pee on it when I peed on it there was a faint line and I just acted like it wasnt there (it was the size of a strand of hair (you couldnt even see it unless you moved it around) a week later we went to a party and I wasnt drinking and everyone asked me if I was pregnant I responded with “nope, just dont feel like drinking” (in that day and age I was a drinker…it was odd” finally 2 months after I was supposed to get my period my husband made me take another test it was very very very hard to miss and I finally caved and believed I was pregnant. It is just ridiculous that we were trying for 4 – 5 months then as soon as we stopped trying it happened. I am not the proud mommy of a beautiful 3 and a half year old but, I am divorced from his father.
