I’ve done quite a bit of online registering but wanted to go in person to check out things like towels and such. So, Monday we spent 3 hours (or so) adding to our registry at BBB. I am already freaking out because we are inviting about 100 people and our registry ended up at 225 (I took it down to 201 so far) which just seems a bit crazy. Anyway, to my point…
I escaped for a restroom break, leaving my fiance with the registry lady, looking at dishes and when I came back, he had picked out china! I’m torn on china because while I think its pretty and like the idea of holiday dinners and having something to pass down, there are things we need more (like everything). I know fiance likes the set(s) but that he got kind of caught up in the moment (as a side note, I think he enjoyed this whole registry experience more than I did… huge surprise). I was told repeatedly that I’m not spending my money and to relax, but I would much rather have the kitchenaid mixer, the sheet set, and other such things more than the fine china.
The first two are the patterns currently on our registry. The fiance totally digs on the square plates. The last is of what BBB terms as “Casual china” which I like. So, my question is, what do you all think?

We got China because all my mom’s friends where so excited about it LOL They wanted to go buy it all as their gifts for us. Basically it’s all bought except the crystal by now. I guess when they go wedding shopping they want to buy things that are pretty and they know we will enjoy!
I personally love my mother’s china and contemplated not registering for any but now im glad we did because i know how much my mother’s friends enjoyed buying it and I love to cook and have parties so i know we will get use of it!
By The Way my mom just got over her -don’t want to break the china- so i don’t use it much- thing and now she uses it all the time. She has been married 30 years haha I decided im going to use it and enjoy it. No reason to have it if you don’t use it!

Of course the lady at BBB was big on pushing the fine china, saying that its the first thing people look for on a registry. I know that’s true for the older group, but being that we are down to one grandparent between the two of us and just our fathers, asking people to spend $200 on a 45 piece set seems more logical than asking them to spend $90 on a 4 place setting. Maybe I’m over thinking all this…

i think i would much rather go with regualr dinner dishes as if you have a grandmother or aunt or even you parents you can always get dibs on it later. im registering for nice dinner stuff as my mom will be gifting my fiance and i with her wedding china !!!!

So, we registerd for fine and casual chine. I kinda went back and forth about registring for the fine…I told my mom I want to hers…she told me i’m gonna have to wait a while! We recieved 2 place settings of our fine china and all of the serving pieces. We recieved 1 complete place setting of our casual china and all of the serving pieces. We had about 300 people at our wedding with chances to buy things for my shower as well. We did recieve most of the items we wanted for our registry as well as a lot of $$ and gift cards. When we returned from our honeymoon we bought all of our casual china. We are going to wait a little while to buy the rest of the fine. I guess my point is you should register for what you want. Don’t forget, people will also buy things off your registery for your shower (if you are having one). If you end up with a lot of china you can always exchange it for stuff you want more. I think it is better to registar for lots of stuff.
