xoxmona :  I purchased 3 different size/shapes from carbon.  Origianlly I purchased a very large pear for comparison next to a moissanite/cz. I set it [shouldn’t have because it was just too big] and then ended up taking it out of the setting and repurposing it for the gold in another project.  The second stone I bought was a 4ct round, but that was returned because I purchased a champagne diamond to set, and didn’t need the round any longer.  Finally-I purchased a bag of 3m sized rounds to use in a different seed pearl set.

When you first get them, to the naked eye they are gorgeous.  You cannot really tell what they are.  My jeweler took a hammer to a few of the 3m sized stones to see how easily they shattered.  He is used to working with cz’s so he didn’t have a hard time setting them at all.  He did say they were a heavier stone with more density than the cz’s he’s worked with.

Where you can REALLY see the difference between the cz and the carbon labs stone is in photographs.  I am having a seed pearl set created with 3 bands.  However, I’ve gotten 2 of the 3 bands so far and you can see the carbon stones in the black and white below:  But in the color shot they’re just gorgeous.  I love them both ways-but you can tell the difference.
