It is normal for your fingers to swell during pregnancy, and they should normalize after you have the baby. You should check with your doctor to make sure that you aren’t swelling to much though, just in case it is something else.

When I was pregnant, I wore my rings on a necklace. I was able to wear them on my hand right after I had my babies.

If it would make you feel better, you could just go to a discount store and get a stand in for while you are pregnant.

Get a fun bling run for now.  No sense in resizing the ring because your swelling should go down after the baby is born.

I agree with Noritake, I would put your rings on a chain and wear them as a necklace, then get a cheap stand in from Overstock until your fingers return to normal size.

WHy not just get a sterling silver band or somehting as a stand in? It doesn’t make much sense to get something fancy that you can’t wear again after your pregnancy

I had to take my ring off for the last month of my pregnancy.  Then of course they went back to normal like 2 weeks after giving birth.  Get a fun stand in!

My Darling Husband knows I never want to be ringless, and what I’d like as a “We’re having a baby! present” is a ring with both our birthstones on it – it would later become a family ring, that I could pass down.
I hope this idea will work!

@egb: That is a really cute idea!

I think just buying a fake ring, even if it doens’t match is a great idea.  My friend took it as an opportunity to also buy a “baby friendly” ring.  She just has a really decorative wide band (lots of small diamonds etc).  Its more than what most people would wear as a fashion ring so she feels comfortable in it alone.  Also since its a flat band style she doesn’t worry about scratching the baby.

My sister bought a fun ring from Target when she was pregnant – it was covered in ‘diamonds’ – she wasn’t comfortable going ‘ringless’ during her pregnancy and I would do the same in that situation.

This issue has come up recently for us as well. Between the summer heat and hummidity and being preggers, my rings don’t fit. I can wear my wedding band alone on the cooler days. Hubs and I just talked this morning about getting me a cheap wedding band in a bigger size that I can wear until the baby comes. I might need my rings to go up a 1/4 or 1/2 size, but want to make sure when I’m not pregnant before we resize them.

I like the idea of getting a ring you can pass down… doesn’t have to be too expensive but can be a nice birthing gift (just early)!

When I was preggers I just left my ring on.  I couldn’t have taken it off if I wanted to and I figured that was better than ringless.  But then when MB was born I took my rings off for a while because I was scared of scratching her.  I think a standin ring is a good idea if you’re that uncomfortable without your ring.  And I REALLY like the idea of an heirloom ring that you can one day give your child and say “This is what I wore when I was pregnant with you.”  That’s so SWEET.
