Thank you sudslover. I am also making vanilla bean extract to go with them 🙂
I had some leftover sugar from the favors, so I am going to also use the sugar to make some cookies for the wedding.

soo cute!! Could you do a tutorial/cost breakdown? 🙂
Post # 10
Thank you CorgiTales 🙂
They are really easy.
Here are the instructions:
Use 1 Madagascar vanilla bean for every two cups of sugar. There is approximately 2.25 cups in 1 pound of sugar.
Cut beans lengthwise and scrape seeds into sugar. Also, add the empty beans to the sugar. Store in an airtight container for at least two weeks. And stir every day so the bean seeds and empty bean pods can have a chance to touch all of the sugar. After a couple of days, you will notice the sugar has a fluffier look about it.
After two weeks, fill your favor jars. I used wide mouth pint Ball jars. Use a 1 cup measuring cup and a funnel to fill the jars. It is easier that way and you have more control over how much sugar goes into each jar. I put one of the empty bean pods in each of the jars before I filled them.
For the packaging I used card stacks in my theme from Joanns. I got them 50% off, so they were $9.99 for 48 sheets. To make the favor boxes, I used my Cricut. The cartridge I used was the Tie The Knot Cartridge. I used one sheet for each box. Just use extra paper to test your box size, until you get the size you need. I got the sugar on sale, and I can’t remember how much it was, but if you get it on sale the cost isn’t too bad. I think I paid $4.00 for each 5 pound package. It was less expensive buying it that way than in a 25 pound bag. And the jars were, I think, $2.97 for every 4 jars at Wal-Mart. You can find them for less, but I thought these were cute, so I had to have them.
Oh, and I got my beans from: http://www.beanilla.com/madagascar-vanilla-beans-p-34.html
