Hello Bees! I really would like your input on a conflict I am having (with myself). So I orginally came up with the Idea to have an October 2013 wedding using the color palette dark plum, light plum, cranberry, antique gold and ivory, but now I am having second thoughts. I am seriously considering changing my wedding to January, as this will be way cheaper, and have a fire and ice themed wedding, with the colors, white, silver, red, and a touch of light blue. This theme really excites me, and I have so many ideas for how to pull it off. But.. The thing is, I know my best friend, and bridesmaid, wants her colors to be red and teal. Will she think this is too close to what she is having? She isn’t engaged yet, but I really don’t want to upset her with my wedding. I would really appreciate any inputs you could give me!

You can both have the same colors. But if you’re worried about how she’d feel why not ask her?

@icetea: I will definitely talk to her about it. I was just wanting to hear people’s reactions.

I personally like the first set of colors. I just love purple and gold 🙂 Would you be changing your colors because of the change in months? I would probably go for the cheaper month too!
My Future Sister-In-Law was upset because her recent ex’s SIL planned her wedding according to FSILs dream wedding AND colors. (FSIL can be a little bratty though;)) You should talk to your friend, she may or may not care. I think teal and blue are different.

I voted before I read your post; after reading it I’d like to change it to the Fire choice for the reasons you say. I’m all for a cheaper wedding and I myself desperately wanted a winter wedding! Oh that would’ve been so magical!!!
Anyway, your friend can’t have a monopoly over the colors. Just because you have some of the same colors doesn’t mean your weddings will be identical.

I am getting married in January and my colors are plum, black and silver. You can still use your original colors, but if your in love with a new theme then go for it! The fact that a friend who isn’t even engaged yet has a set of colors in mind for her someday wedding should not stop you from using the colors you want!
