@Otulyssa: I too have had to cut friends. It did not take 18 years but I had a good friend I had to let go becuase she just constantly lied without thinking of how she hurt other people.

I’m glad you feel good. I’m curious thought. What would she do that was so bad and what did she do during wedding planning that led to this decision?

SO glad you feel better! I remember your other posts and I really felt for you. Some friends can just SUCK THE LIFE out of you!

I had to end a friendship last year and even though it was hard and I miss the good times, I feel so free from all the drama. She just dragged me down and was toxic for my life.

Good for you!! 🙂

I’m glad you feel this way, bad friendships can sink us deep and deeper and really harm our souls.

The fact that you feel in peace just lets you know how hard your life was with this person in it (been there, donde that). You’re right, the wedding doesn’t destroy a friendship, is the realization that a person’s not the kind of friend you thought.

Good for you! There’s no better feeling than knowing that you’ve cut a toxic person out of your life. I decided 2 years ago that my best friend throughout middle/high school/college was not the kind of person I wanted in my life anymore, she was just too negative to handle AND she was way too self-absorbed… I don’t know why it took me so many years to finally see it.

I have absolutely no regrets about it now. I used to have a lot of dreams where we were still friends and when I woke up I’d always feel an intense sadness that somebody I basically grew up with and shared so many inside jokes would no longer be around. Nobody else in my life could quote Simpsons episodes like this friend. Alas, the ability to quote cartoons is not enough to make me disregard all her other terrible qualities. This was confirmed when I ran into her over the holidays and she was still a complete b*tch. NO REGRETS!
