Hi ya! I went alone to both my first and second. My experience was fine but then again, hindsight is 20/20 and I’ve had thoughts of what I should have addressed while there but didn’t think of, like can I walk in this dress without hiking it up? Can they tie the corset tighter? How can I move around in this room in my dress and put my veil on? (The veil goes with me next time!!)

Oh and then crinoline, ugh.. Wish I had help with that one. Since I didn’t, I never put it on with my dress to compare. Darn it.

My advice is to ask in this forum before going, which I should have done and you did, lol. 🙂

Enjoy it! It was fun!

I went by myself to my first fitting. It was literally like 20 minutes long. We just talked about what needed to be altered (I bought a sample dress several sizes too big, so theres lots to be done!) and then she did alot of pinning to take it in. Then we talked about what would happen during the next fitting (hemming) and discussed bustle options and what shoes I was wearing, etc. I felt comfortable the whole time! My 2nd fitting, my mother-in-law-to-be is coming with me! 🙂

I went to my 1st appointment alone, as well, and everything went fine. I kept in mind who would be bustling my dress, though, and focused on the ease of the bustle. I took my mom for the final fitting so she could see the bustle and how it was done.

I went alone to my first fitting, too. It was really no big deal.  I put it on, it was too big, she pinned it up a little, figured out the bustle, and that was it!  My mom came to the second one so she could see the bustle in case my Maid/Matron of Honor couldn’t figure it out (it was easy), and so we could compare the necklaces I was debating wearing.

I really don’t get the big deal – it is not a huge moment like they make it out to be on SYTTD.

Just remember to wash your face and bring your shoes.  And bring a hair tie if you plan to wear your hair up so you can see what it looks like with your hair off your shoulders.

It really doesn’t sound like you would even benefit from having someone there. Make sure you take pictures and then have someone at the second fitting though, and pay attention to how comfortable you are in the dress
